Carré d’Or is without a doubt the most famous of all Monaco districts. It stands it the centre of Monaco and is home to many of the country’s most iconic buildings. The lively Place du Casino (Casino Square) is bordered by the ornate Belle Epoque architecture of the Monte Carlo Casino, the Café de Paris and the Hotel de Paris. In contrast, a postmodern complex named One Monte Carlo was inaugurated in the neighbourhood in February 2019. It comprises luxury apartments, a conference centre an art gallery and a beautifully designed pedestrian area lined with high-end boutiques. Monte Carlo residents also have numerous fine dining possibilities on their doorsteps, including the three Michelin-starred restaurant Le Louis XV - Alain Ducasse.
